October 16 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 25-16-13 all-time against Minnesota, a record that includes a home mark of 13-8-6.

-The Kings improved to 1-0-0 against the Central Division and 1-3-0 against the Western Conference.

-By winning Friday, the 2015-16 Kings avoided becoming the first team in franchise history to lose its first four games of the season. The last Los Angeles team to lose three of its first four games was the 2012-13 team, which opened 1-2-1. The last team to post one win and three regulation losses in its first four games was the 2007-08 team, which opened the season 1-5-0.

-Dustin Brown played his 806th game as a King to move past Rob Blake for sole possession of fourth place on the franchise’s all-time games played list.

-By winning his 548th career game, Darryl Sutter moved one win behind Marc Crawford (549) for 14th place in NHL all-time coaching wins.

-Anze Kopitar (1-0=1) scored his fifth career overtime goal and first since November 25, 2013 in Vancouver. His last home overtime goal came against San Jose on October 30, 2013.

-Milan Lucic (0-1=1) earned his first point as a King on Tyler Toffoli’s power play goal.

-Derek Forbort logged 11:33 of ice time in his NHL debut and totaled two penalty minutes, one shot, one giveaway and one blocked shot in 20 total shifts. He finished with a +8 5v5 shot attempt differential, according to War-on-Ice.

-Brayden McNabb blocked a game-high five shots.

-Nino Niederreiter issued a game-high six hits.

-The Kings attempted 74 shots (37 on goal, 14 blocked, 23 missed). The Wild attempted 46 shots (26 on goal, 8 blocked, 12 missed). Dustin Brown finished with a game-high six shots on goal. Brown (6 on goal, 2 missed), Drew Doughty (5 on goal, 1 blocked, 2 missed) and Zach Parise (5 on goal, 2 blocked, 1 missed) led all skaters with eight shot attempts.

-Los Angeles won 29-of-60 faceoffs (48%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 14-of-23, Andy Andreoff won 1-of-3, Nick Shore won 3-of-10, and Jeff Carter won 11-of-24.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 11:00 a.m. at Toyota Sports Center on Saturday, October 17.
