Muzzin, Greene suffer upper-body injuries

Jake Muzzin and Matt Greene suffered what were described by Kings public relations as “upper-body” injuries during Los Angeles’ 2-1 preseason shootout win over Colorado Sunday night in Denver.

Muzzin, who was hit hard along the boards in the Kings’ zone by the Avalanche’s Blake Comeau roughly eight minutes into the game, appeared in four additional shifts according to the game log but did not return for the second period. Though a hockey operations source spoke with LA Kings Insider about where he believed the injury had occurred, that conversation did not provide a clear indication of its location and severity and was more speculative than concrete. Darryl Sutter declined to comment on the injury’s severity after the game.

Per the game log, Greene’s final shift ended with 3:33 to play in the second period, though he remained on the bench through the remainder of the game. According to Kings public relations, Greene’s upper-body injury will be re-evaluated on Monday.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at Toyota Sports Center at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
