Development camp opens next week

Good morning, Insiders. Back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Development camp will take place next week at Toyota Sports Center. After the prospects check in Sunday evening, on-ice sessions will start on Monday, July 6. Media availability will follow on Tuesday, July 7. As always, LA Kings Insider will be on hand to continue to familiarize the fanbase to the club’s prospect group. Because this is development camp and not training camp, the full stable of prospects may participate (i.e. college prospects, who you won’t see during training camp, are able to take part). Expect an array of players who are in the system (including those who recently won a Calder Cup with Manchester), players who have been drafted but have not signed, and non-roster camp invites to take part. Here’s a sneak peak at one such invite:

That’s Samuel Laberge, a 6’2, 210-pound forward from QMJHL-Rimouski. The 119th-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting, he posted 15 goals, 26 points and 68 penalty minutes in his 17-year-old season last year.

I’ll post the camp list once it’s available.
