Stadium Series rendering released

The NHL released its first official rendering of the playing surface and ice level set-up for next Saturday’s Stadium Series game between the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks:

There’s no word yet on the design elements that will make this year’s event stand out – think of last year’s beach volleyball players and yoga circles – though in the league’s release it is noted that the elements “pay tribute to the wide-ranging topography unique to Northern California.” I’m guessing those aren’t live sharks swimming in the waters below-center.

The construction of the rink began on Monday, February 9. A time lapse video of the process:

We’re close enough to the event that weather reports for next Saturday are now available. Via weather.com, mostly sunny skies are expected, with a 10% chance of rain, a high of 67 and a low of 49.
