February 5 postgame quotes: Stoll, McBain, Shore

Jarret Stoll, on how the team can eliminate mistakes:
I don’t know. A lot of times mistakes are mental, sometimes they’re physical, sometimes they’re a little missed focus, maybe. It’s a tough break. Again, it’s a tough loss. We’ve got to move on. We’ve got another game in a couple days in Tampa, so we’ve got to move on. Tough loss.

Stoll, on the way the team lost in the midst of a challenging stretch:
To be honest, the way we lost, it is what it is. We lost two points. That’s what it is, we lost two points. We had two, then we had one and then we had none. That’s the bottom line, we got zero points tonight. I don’t give a crap how we lost. Yeah, it’s a tough loss but we got zero points.

Jamie McBain, on having a third period lead after the power play goal:
We were feeling good about our game as far as the power play being able to contribute there right away in the third and we felt like we were having a good game. Obviously a few bounces there, then they score two quick ones and all of a sudden we found ourselves behind again. We couldn’t quite claw our way back. It’s a game that there are a few good things there and obviously bad things that we need to shore up here. We’ve got another game here in a day and a half, so we have to make sure we regroup and get focused.

McBain, on how he felt about his game:
I felt pretty good. It took me maybe the first period to get my legs under me again. I got beat early for a two-on-one, so that was kind of a welcome back and something that I definitely can’t make a habit of. That’s what gets you taken out of the lineup in the first place. Once the first period [ended] and I kind of got settled in, I was able to make a few more plays and felt better about my game.

McBain, on whether the ice surface had an impact on the game:
I don’t think so. Both teams have to deal with it. Obviously it was a little bouncy out there and some soft ice but you can’t blame that because, like I said, both teams are on it. You can’t use that as an excuse.

McBain, on what it will take to turn the team’s fortunes around:
That’s I think the question we’re all looking for, too. It’s going to be ‘What sparks us to get us on a roll?’ We definitely have to find it here with these two games left on the road trip before we head back home, because these are important points, and we’re obviously finding ourselves looking up at the playoffs standings. We have to find that solution right away and make sure we come out and have a great effort in Tampa Bay.

Nick Shore, on how the team can improve its road record:
I think it’s just going to be a good effort from everybody. I think top-to-bottom, everyone has to play well. We’ve got to execute better and get a win here.

Shore, on whether there were positives he took away from the game:
Well, we knew it was going to be a challenge for us. Obviously, getting that early goal didn’t help. We had a good power play goal there, but in the end, we didn’t get the job done.

Shore, on what caused the turnovers late in the game:
Just plays that we’ve got to be a little more crisp on. If you’re not executing, it’s going to go the other way, so we’ve got to clean some of those up.
