February 3 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 55-33-15 all-time against Washington, a record that includes an away mark of 24-19-8. Tonight’s loss ended a nine-game point streak at the Verizon Center, dating back to a 3-2 loss on April 4, 1998. The Kings’ three-game road winning streak in the series was snapped.

-Los Angeles fell to 7-10-3 against the Eastern Conference and 2-6-2 against the Metropolitan Division.

– Over the last 26 games, the Kings have been outscored 75-69 (excluding shootout goals). Their record in those 26 games is 9-10-7.

-In the 26 games since December 1, the Kings rank third in the league with a 55.4% Fenwick-close percentage in five-on-five play. (What is Fenwick-close?)

-With 37 hits in the loss, the Kings lead the league with 1,643 team hits. Kyle Clifford finished with a game-high eight hits.

-Los Angeles was shut out for the fifth time this season.

-The Kings fell to 5-11-6 on the road (.364 points percentage). Since the introduction of the overtime loss point in 1999-00, the only season in which they generated a points percentage on the road lower than .364 was in 2006-07 (11-25-5 / 27 points / .329 points percentage).

-Los Angeles attempted 44 shots (27 on goal, 9 blocked, 8 missed). Washington attempted 52 shots (27 on goal, 9 blocked, 16 missed). Alex Ovechkin recorded a game-high 11 shot attempts (3 on goal, 2 blocked, 6 missed), while Troy Brouwer registered a game-high five shots on goal. Drew Doughty led the Kings with five shot attempts (4 on goal, 1 missed).

-The Kings won 26-of-49 faceoffs (53%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 9-of-15, Andy Andreoff won 2-of-3, Trevor Lewis won 0-of-2, Jarret Stoll won 5-of-10, and Jeff Carter won 10-of-19.
