Drew Doughty was named an assistant captain of Team Foligno, the NHL announced Wednesday. Darryl Sutter will coach Team Foligno, while Peter Laviolette will coach Team Toews.
Nick Foligno, a Columbus forward scoring at a point-a-game pace this season who narrowly escaped serious injury in a collision with linesman Shane Heyer at a game at Staples Center earlier this season, will captain the home team, so Doughty will be wearing the black All-Star jersey. Chicago forward Patrick Kane will also serve as an assistant captain on Team Foligno.
Anaheim forward Ryan Getzlaf and New York Rangers forward Rick Nash will serve as assistant captains for the visiting team, captained by Chicago forward Jonathan Toews. The league will hold a fantasy draft to fill out the remaining rosters on Friday, January 23 at 5:00 p.m. PT. The fantasy draft, skills competition (4:00 p.m. PT, Saturday, January 24) and the All-Star Game (2:00 p.m. PT, Sunday, January 25) will be broadcast on NBCSN.
