On any benefit in a preseason game with heavy special teams time:
I mean, you’re working on everything out there – special teams. Five-on-five was pretty sloppy, so that game gave you a little bit of everything to work on.
On the delay during the dry scrape prior to overtime:
It was a delay, all right. I don’t know if I was a big fan of that, but I mean you’re going to have to wait for it anyway before the shootout. It was all right. It was definitely better ice.
On his first goal:
I don’t know. I had seen all their confusion at the bench and just tried to make a move, and luckily it went in.
On his overall impressions of the shootout loss:
We battled back. We had a good start. Penalty trouble in the second, which obviously we’ve got to stay away from. But battled back in the third, and the young kid made some big saves in the third to keep us in it. Obviously a shootout can go either way.
On the first preseason game:
It’s tentative off the start, to be honest. Just trying to feel it out, and that’s what the exhibition games are there for. I thought as the game went on there wasn’t really much structure, but at the same time the pace picked up a little bit and I felt more comfortable making plays, and that’s what it’s there for.
On whether the game was physical for such an early game:
It was tough. The first one on both sides, I think, nobody’s running around too much. You just want to get your bearings first.
