April 2 postgame quotes: Phoenix

Dave Tippett, on the loss:
We gave up the goal early there and got chased in the game right from the beginning. That probably wasn’t the ideal circumstance to put ourselves in. The first period, I thought we hung around it and we just couldn’t get anything to go our way. We had a couple chances that we thought we could get a chance and get ourselves back in the game. We could maybe find something, but it didn’t happen.

Tippett, on his top forwards not scoring:
They had some opportunities but couldn’t finish. I think Hanzal had two or three pretty good opportunities. We have to keep pounding away. Like I said, we put this game behind us, reset and get ready for Friday.

Martin Hanzal, on being elbowed by Jordan Nolan:
I’m fine.

Hanzal, on generating a season low shot total:
Obviously we didn’t score a goal, so something was wrong there. But I thought they just played a better game tonight. They out-competed us, out-hit us, out played us today. It was as simple as that.

Keith Yandle, on the schedule contributing to a lack of energy:
You can’t blame it on the turnaround. It’s back-to-back, everyone has to do it. It’s something that you have to take pride in, winning games or at least making them close. I think we just didn’t do the little things. We lose the specialty games a little bit and if you do that in a game, you’re going to find yourself behind.

Yandle, on falling behind early in the game:
It’s tough when you, like you said, when you’re on a back-to-back and you hope you can get the first goal or get something going or a lead. To get down early, we were still in the game. I thought we played alright, but it’s one of those things where we just couldn’t find a way to get to the net. I think with Quick, when he sees the puck he’s going to save it. We just didn’t do a good enough job of getting to him.
