On the victory:
To be able to kill off a penalty against the best power play unit in overtime is huge. And then taking care of business in the shootout, other than Kopi’s move, we had some good shooters. It’s the two points that matter.
On the discussion previous to the penalty kill in overtime:
They’re just going over what they need to do, Kopi, Stolly and then all the defensemen that kill, because in a situation like that you’re only going to have one or two guys kill the five-on-three or four-on-three. They kind of do X’s and O’s and all the rest of us are just cheerleaders.
On Jonathan Quick:
I’ve been saying this for three years now, that’s Quickie making the big saves when he needs to.
On paying attention to the scores of other games:
We don’t have to. We do what we need to take care of. So it’s about focusing on what we have to do. We’re not in one of those situations where we have to catch a team. We just have to take care of our own games.
On the return from his injury:
Everything felt fine. Obviously, getting up to speed after missing a week or two games, just getting back up to game speed I adjusted pretty well… I’ve felt better since the break quite honestly. Just from an all-around, physically, mentally, I feel more like myself. Obviously the injury that I had, just getting back tonight felt good.
