Quick starting, lineup changes TBD, and some pageantry

Jonathan Quick will start in net for the Los Angeles Kings when they face the Calgary Flames tonight in the team’s second game since returning from the Olympic break.

“One team’s got two weeks off, and one team got here in the middle of the night,” Darryl Sutter said. “Great scheduling.”

Sutter indicated at the team hotel earlier today that because the team didn’t hold a morning skate, the coaching staff hasn’t decided on any lineup changes. Last night, the Kings used the rookie consortium of Tanner Pearson, Linden Vey and Tanner Pearson in the same game for the seventh time this season. Los Angeles is 5-0-2 when all three players are in the lineup.

“Tried to get four lines, give us some minutes,” Sutter said. “Tyler played more than the other two. A little bit of special teams that they’re not involved in.”

There should be added pageantry in tonight’s game. In addition to Calgary honoring participants in the Winter Olympics, Robyn Regehr will also be recognized in his first game back in Calgary since he was traded to Buffalo in the 2011 off-season. Regehr, who has scored in back-to-back games, made his Flames debut as an 19-year-old in 1999 and played 826 games in a Flames uniform.

As for the Sochi recognition, this marks two games since the resumption of the NHL schedule, and two pre-game ceremonies.

“Hopefully we’re moving past all the Olympic honor stuff,” Sutter said.
