On the shootout:
Fun. Obviously came out on the wrong end of it. I have to try to find a way to make some more saves there in the shootout there, but they have some skilled guys. It’s a learning experience.
On getting three of a possible four points on the road trip:
We like four. That’s our goal. Obviously we’ll take every point we can get but we aren’t satisfied by any means with three. We have a team that expects to win and we have a team that can win. So we have to find a way. Again, that starts with me making a few more [saves] in the shootout there.
On Joe Thornton’s shootout goal:
Low glove. He’s a good player. Good reach. I thought I was there but [it was] a fortuitous bounce on his part.
On the game:
It was a fun game. It’s my first time in San Jose. It’s a loud rink, good fan support. That’s great for the league, we love to see that.
On defending against Thornton and Burns:
I saw the shots. I don’t answer X’s and O’s questions really. That’s coach’s job and the guys who are actually executing. I know that they blocked shots, the guys in front of me, they did a great job tonight. But I will leave the analysis up to you guys.
On being composed on the penalty kill:
You have to, right? You don’t have an excuse saying ‘there was six minutes.’ You take whatever hand is dealt to you. The penalty kill came up big. We had a lot of guys blocking shots. We had some good pressure down ice, which is always a good way to eat away some of the power play. Again, our penalty kill has been pretty good as of late. It’s guys blocking shots, attention to details and it’s getting good clears when you get a chance to.
