-The Kings held an optional skate at the Toyota Sports Center several days in advance of their second round series against either the Anaheim Ducks or San Jose Sharks.
-Players didn’t appear particularly concerned with whether they’d face San Jose or Anaheim in the second round, though the lack of travel was a universal relief. The players who spoke about the series indicated that they’d watch the Anaheim-Detroit Game 7 tonight but won’t exactly be taking notes, as there’s already a heavy familiarity with the divisional foe. “I’ll probably just watch it,” defenseman Rob Scuderi said. “Certainly we’re very familiar with their tendencies and the things that they try to do as teams. I don’t have to dissect it too much. I think I have a general idea of what both teams are trying to do. But we’ll try to watch it and see what happens and see where we go.”
-Kyle Clifford was not among the skaters who took the ice. When Darryl Sutter was asked if he could provide an update on the forward who did not take part in the Game 6 morning skate or participate in the series-clinching victory that night against St. Louis, he offered a one-word answer: “No.”
-On where Matt Greene was “in terms of fitness and sharpness”, Sutter responded, “I don’t know.”
