On the feelings of heading into his first Stanley Cup Playoff game:
“I’m excited. All year you play and you want to get into the playoffs, and here we are. So it’s definitely exciting, and I feel ready to go.”
On playing with Keaton Ellerby:
“We’re just going to play our game. Move pucks quick, take the body, get the puck out of our zone. On the power play, hopefully provide on the power play if I can, but it’s the same attitude we’ve had all year. Just play solid and move pucks.”
On the aspects that he’s grown at the most this season:
“I think being a little bit more consistent in my game and keeping it simple and not trying to force plays. That’s been big for me, being consistent. I think I’ve improved offensively with scoring some goals and stuff like that. For the most part, though, just being consistent and being mentally ready.”
On the view of St. Louis’ pressure and physicality from the ice:
“We know they’re forechecking, and we know they’re coming to hit and take the body, so we’ve got to move pucks quickly. I think if we move pucks quickly and get out of our zone quickly, it’ll be easier for us to not take as many bumps or to let their forecheck take a toll on us.”
On the speed at which the power play has been operating:
“And I think we really haven’t had a lot of power plays lately. But we definitely created opportunities and chances, and I think the guys are ready. The pucks are moving good on the ice. So hopefully tonight if we get an opportunity we’ll take advantage.”
