The Los Angeles Kings traveling party endured the heaviest snowfall totals of the year – on April 22. Surpassing the one or two inches that fell the day that the team arrived in Columbus on February 4, sleet was falling when the team touched down at the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport at 4:30 yesterday afternoon before turning exclusively to snow. The National Weather Service recorded snowfall totals of three and a half inches in the Twin Cities, with outlying parts of the metropolitan area digging out from as many of six inches of snow. The Twins’ game against the Miami Marlins was postponed until today, forcing the teams to play a day-night doubleheader at chilly Target Field. It was the fourth postponement of a Twins game in nine days.
My window at the team hotel doesn’t allow any gazes down towards a wintry landscape and instead looks directly at an adjacent building, so I cheated and took additional photos from the 10th floor elevator lobby. For photos of fair skies and the landscape across St. Paul the morning after an early spring storm, hit the jump below.
