On whether his “wind” was OK in the third period:
Yeah, wind was fine. Just playing the game, that’s it.”
On whether he had any hesitation in taking the first hit:
“No. I think you get cleared from the doctors. You get cleared from your trainers, and we’ve got a good staff here, and if they’re going to clear you, then you’re physically ready to go. So that’s what the deal was.”
On returning to action in an “intense and physical” game:
“It’s fun. That’s the best way to get into it. Get that playoff atmosphere right away. They’re battling for points, and we are too, so it’s a good game to get into.”
On whether games like this get the team prepared for the postseason:
“Yeah, I think so. I think all these games now from here on out. You look, Dallas is going to have the same type of game. They’re battling to get in. We’re battling for home ice. I mean, it’s going to be that atmosphere from here on out.”
On whether the team still “has Anaheim in its sights”:
“We’re just looking for home ice. That’s it. We’ve got to eat up points. We’ve got to just keep playing good hockey going in. It’s always good to go in on a high note, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
On whether the team does any scoreboard watching:
“No. We’ve just got to take care of business. That’s it. You just take care of the two points that are ahead of you, and that’s all you’ve got to do.”
On the feeling of taking and receiving hits again:
“Yeah, it was good. It was good. It’s been a while. It’s good to get hit, good to give a few hits and get the first game over with.”
On the group effort:
“Guys played well. Guys have been doing well all year. I mean I was in the box for the second one, so I couldn’t really help too much, but I think I was a little bit lost out there for a little bit on the first one. But that’s something that comes with playing just a little bit more.”
