On the team’s priorities:
“Teams are kind of rounding into their form and making their push. For us, to get in the playoffs, we haven’t gotten in yet, so we need to get in first and then we’ll try to get home ice after that. We’re just going to go out there and try to get two points every time we step out there.”
On whether he was impressed with the team’s shot blocking efforts:
“They’ve done that all year. It’s almost like you kind of come to expect it. They do it so well, so you get used to it. They did the same again tonight here. You keep their shot totals low, it’s going to limit their amount of chances, and we did that well tonight.”
On whether anyone’s shot blocking was particularly impressive:
“I thought everyone as a whole did a great team effort as far as that goes.”
On whether Thursday’s game had a playoff style of hockey:
“It’s not quite a playoff game. It’s the type of game that you expect with…four or five games left in the year. Both teams are fighting for a playoff spot. Neither of us are in yet. We’re just going to keep fighting until we get a spot, and then we’re going to fight for home ice.”
On beating a desperate team that had won five in a row:
“Well, they’re one of the hotter teams, I would say, in the league, right? Like you said, five in a row, and a few of them on the road against some great teams. They beat San Jose. They beat Anaheim…last night. They’re beating good teams. So we knew they were going to bring a lot of energy and a lot of grit into this game, and that’s exactly what we got.”
