On the process of choosing and executing a shootout move with a chance to win the game:
“Well, since I went third, you kind of get the read on the goalie, and I’ve played against Giguere enough years now where I guess I got to know him, and I guess he got to know me, too. I just went in there, and he kind of gave me the low blocker, and then I figured I’d pump fake him, and it worked out.”
On the three-plus periods played against Colorado:
“The first one was good. We came out strong, outshot them in the first by quite a bit, but then we sat back a little bit, which is not the best thing to do, obviously, and they came back. But at the end of the day we got the two points, and that’s the most important thing for us.”
On whether the team got “complacent” against a non-playoff team:
“No, not really. I mean, it shouldn’t be. It doesn’t matter. We’re working on our game, and we’ve got to improve as a team. We know what our goal is, and I guess in two weeks or three weeks we’re where want to be and what kind of style we want to play, and sitting back is not the one to play. We’ve got to correct that a little bit and be better in the next game.”
On Thursday’s performance:
“I think everybody knows we gave them a point tonight, and we weren’t as sharp in the start of the second. I thought halfway through the third we picked it up again, and we outshot them again and played a puck possession game in their zone. That’s where we want to be. So we’ve just got to do it for 60 minutes.”
