April 2: Morning skate notes

-Jonathan Quick left the ice first at today’s morning skate at Jobing.com Arena, meaning he has been tabbed as tonight’s starter against the Phoenix Coyotes.

-Tyler Toffoli will skate as a left wing alongside Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. He’s listed as a center and played almost exclusively on the right side in the AHL and in his seven NHL games this season, though he didn’t seem particularly affected by the switch when I spoke with him this morning. He played some left wing in junior hockey with the Ottawa 67’s.

-Dustin Penner suffered his lower-body injury on an “almost breakaway play” in the game against Dallas on Sunday, according to Darryl Sutter. His absence means Jordan Nolan is back in. Expect Nolan to play alongside Kyle Clifford and Brad Richardson.

-Robyn Regehr is not with the team; I’ll have more on him in the form of quotes from Dustin Brown and Darryl Sutter this afternoon. The game preview should be up around 4:45 pm.
