March 28 postgame quotes: Justin Williams

On what Darryl Sutter said to him after his goal:
“I don’t know. It’s no secret I’ve had a tough time scoring some goals this year. I think he said ‘Jeez, you might’ve gotten an assist and a goal on that one. Williams from Williams.’ Hey, I’ll take a hit to get a goal and seal a game any day. Hey, it was a clean hit. I put the puck in and I got hammered and got up and Kopi stuck up for me. That’s what we do. We stick up for each other.”

On whether St. Louis appeared frustrated:
“I mean, always. We played them last year in the playoffs. It seems to have a rivalry building. They’re obviously a big team. They haven’t gotten the results that they wanted against us so far, so I’m sure it’s frustrating for them. But at the same time, we played a great road game.”

On whether winning a championship provides the team extra poise in key moments of tied games:
“Every experience that you have playing hockey helps you – good or bad. A lot of players on this team have been through some tense moments. That certainly helps us when the game’s on the line and you need a big penalty kill or you need a big save or you need a big play for someone. We got a big goal from Mike. We got some big saves from Jon, and won the game as a result.”
