The Kings take on the Canucks tonight for the first time since that whole Game Five thing back in April. A few interesting story lines are in store for tonight. It’s well documented that the Kings power play is off to a rough start this season. They are 0-for-23, good enough for 30th in the league. On the bright side, the Canucks haven’t been all that solid killing penalties and bring the 28th ranked penalty kill into the building tonight (allowing seven goals in 22 chances).
I’m not sure it’s been said yet in this space, but the Kings collapse in Colorado the other night was a rare performance. How rare? Well, the last time the Kings lost in regulation after taking a lead into the third period was way back on April 4, 2009. Since then they are 87-1-10 when leading heading into the third period. You can bet Darryl Sutter won’t want to see that happen again anytime soon.
Congrats to Dustin Brown on suiting up for his 600th career game tonight. He’s three behind Bernie Nicholls for 10th on the Kings’ all-time list.
We hope you’ll follow along for tonight’s game. Pre-game show starts at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports West and puck drop will be around 7:30.
