Morning in Newark

Technically, it’s not Newark, since as the hotel is outside the city limits, but it’s close enough to make the point. All anyone really cares about is that it’s the morning of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Congratulations to the Kings and the New Jersey Devils, who have ended their eight-and-a-half-month journey here, the place every hockey player wants to reach. Both teams will have a morning skate at Prudential Center today, followed by a longer-than-usual wait. The opening faceoff isn’t scheduled until 8:22 p.m. local time. For those in the West, television coverage starts at 5 p.m. On 1150-AM and affiliates, Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans will have an extended pregame show, starting at 4 p.m. Here’s how things looked in New Jersey this morning…
