Jarret Stoll’s postgame thoughts…
(on his goal…)
STOLL: “I was seeing a little bit of room up there, and short-side, maybe that’s something that they’re not expecting. I was definitely shooting all the way. Lewie did a great job on the turnover, just forcing their D-man. I was just at the right place at the right time and had a nice little transition 2-on-1.’’
(on preventing the series from going longer…)
STOLL: “It’s huge. We all know momentum can swing. They had a great first half to the game. I thought we played a great third (period). I thought we jumped on them in the third. We were more aggressive on the forecheck for sure, and then in overtime it was back and forth for sure. Quickie made some big saves in OT and we found a loose puck.’’
(on winning three games on the road…)
STOLL: “We feel we’re a good road team. We’ve always been that. I’ve been here for four years and we’ve always played pretty well on the road, pretty simple and pretty smart. I don’t know. We just find a way to be simple like that and play together, play as a group, roll four lines, have great goaltending and see if we can get a win.’’
(on knocking off the President’s Trophy winners…)
STOLL: “Any team you knock off, it’s special. It’s pride in your organization, your team and your teammates and coaching staff. They’re a great team over there. It took a lot to beat them in five games. It definitely wasn’t easy.’’
