RICHARDS: “That was just a bad pass by me. I just saw him [Jeff Carter] go to the net. It was a bad pass and a good play by him.’’

(on his play that led to the game-winning goal…)
RICHARDS: “To tell you the truth, I was just caught going forward, and I was trying to get back in a good defensive position. We got lucky. It hit me and ended up on my stick. I made a bad pass and it somehow ended up in the net. It was a lucky break but we’ll take it.’’

RICHARDS: “We played well. Our power play still needs to be better, because it’s going to be a crucial part of the series. It’s something we have to work on, but overall I thought we played well. We got pucks in deep. We didn’t do anything special except just get the puck in deep and try to make them make mistakes and control the game as much as possible.’’

RICHARDS: “I think it’s a tough play for goaltenders to read that, and stay with the stick on the ice and kind of read back-door. Luckily, it got through, and it was nice to get that first power-play goal.’’
