Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…
(on the Kings playing to their potential…)
KOPITAR: “We’re definitely showing signs. There’s always room for improvement, but tonight was a huge game. We knew what was at stake, and I think we came up big. It was a full-team effort, and that’s what we’ve got to do down the road.’’
(on getting speed and opportunistic scoring…)
KOPITAR: “We even got a power-play goal. That doesn’t come around too often. [laughs] You know, that’s how we’ve got to pla, with a lot of energy. That’s how we’re going to draw penalties, and the power play has to come up big for us every night. Again, that was a great team effort. Quickie gave us a chance, just like every other night he’s in there. Again, that’s what we’ve got to focus on doing down the road.’’
(on the recent offensive breakout…)
KOPITAR: “I don’t know if we wanted to break out in the last 15 games of the year. Maybe next year we’ll do it a little quicker. Right now, we’re standing pretty good, but we’ve got to keep going. We all know there’s still some work to be done, and we’re prepared for it.’’
(on his goal-scoring streak…)
KOPITAR: “Just being in the right spot at the right time, and getting those shots through. Maybe early in the year, I had my shots blocked a little too often, and now I’m getting them through. Fortunately, I’m finding the back of the net.’’
