Sunday scoreboard watching

It’s another day of scoreboard-watching around the Western Conference, with two games — and perhaps three, depending on your level of optimism — relevant to the playoff race. The two teams directly behind the ninth-place Kings — 10th-place Phoenix and 11th-place Calgary — play tonight, but the Kings probably shouldn’t anticipate much help tonight. Phoenix plays at 14th-place Edmonton while Calgary hosts last-place Columbus. Both games start at 5 p.m. Pacific time. Looking ahead, the only other game of potential relevance is going on right now, with sixth-place Chicago hosting Washington. The Blackhawks entered the day four points ahead of the Kings, with both teams having played 72 games.
