Penner postgame quotes (March 17)

Dustin Penner’s postgame thoughts…

(on his goal…)
PENNER: “Before the faceoff, before the TV timeout, we initially called a rim to the weak side. Stolly changed it at the last second and said, `Up the wall.’ He won the draw straight back, and it was kind of a chip play to Lewie, and Lewie made a great pass.’’

(on the game…)
PENNER: “It’s a huge game. It had a lot of meaning for us with the way the standings are now, five teams separated by a point or two. Teams ahead of us are winning, so we have to do the same thing. Against a team like Nashville, where it was 1-1 going into the third, it was kind of a time where you separate the men from the boys. I think we grew a lot overall in this game, and especially in the third period, to come out like that and kind of explode for three goals. We got contributions from guys, and it really helps the team, with myself and Kinger and Cliffy. Everybody played really well.’’

(on him and Lewis scoring in the same game…)
PENNER: “We talked about it, actually. We’re roommates on the road, and we had agreed that we were going to score together, in the same game.’’
