Scouting the Ducks

This is the fifth of six meetings this season between the Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. So far, the Kings have won once in regulation, won twice in shootouts and lost once in regulation. Thus far in the season series, special teams have been equal, as each team has scored two power-play goals. The Kings will be looking to put together back-to-back wins for the the first time in a while. They beat Ottawa on Jan. 23, then beat Columbus after an eight-day All-Star break. Other than that, the Kings haven’t won back-to-back games since Dec. 26-28. That hasn’t been a problem for the Ducks. They went 9-2-1 in January and 8-4-3 in February. The Ducks broke a two-game losing streak with last night’s 3-2 victory over Calgary. Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller has started 24 consecutive games, a franchise record, and isn’t likely to get much rest anytime soon, as backup goalie Dan Ellis is out after undergoing sports-hernia surgery.
