Sutter postgame quotes (Feb. 25)

Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
SUTTER: “Two points. That’s what it’s about now.’’

(on the Kings’ offensive breakthrough…)
SUTTER: “It’s probably similar to the game in Phoenix, quite honest. It was a big game for Brownie, right? On the power play early, Jarret Stoll and Brownie were really effective on it.’’

(on what was different in Brown’s game…)
SUTTER: “He was going to the net, really good. When he was taking his shots, that’s where he was going. Not across, or anywhere else, just straight that way. That’s the type of player he is. That’s always how he’s been. It gets overlooked. He scored in both games when we were gone. Confidence is a good thing. You just have to stay with it. That’s what you try to do.’’

(on Brown thriving despite trade rumors…)
SUTTER: “That’s why they have a trade deadline, right? And usually the rumors are really good players’ names. Somebody starts a little thing, and it just kind of rolls. … I’ve talked to these guys about the week, and the day of the deadline. There’s nothing you can do about it. If you let it be a distraction, it effects your game. It’s hard not to, but you can’t let it effect your preparation or anything like that. That’s got nothing to do with Brownie’s game. We have a group of guys that have to understand that their leadership is going to impact what we do in the next six or seven weeks here. Obviously he understood what we were talking about.’’

(on Jeff Carter’s game…)
SUTTER: “Early, he was really good and he showed good offensive instincts. He jumped to holes and he did a good job of killing penalties. I think he would also tell you that he was probably played out. He skated, what, once in four days? With the trade part of it, and all the medical part of it, I mean, he was in Indianapolis yesterday, as part of the medical. He’s got his miles covered.’’
