Richards postgame quotes (Feb. 11)

Mike Richards’ postgame thoughts…

(on the frustration and difficulty of playing tight, low-scoring games…)
RICHARDS: “We should be confident in one-goal games, because we’ve been in so many of them. We had opportunities tonight. We hit the post, hit his [Evgeni Nabokov’s] back, stopped on the line. We had another couple good opportunities where he made some big saves. Right after they scored the first goal, I thought we picked it up and played a lot better and really put some pressure on them. I think the most frustrating part of getting opportunities is not finishing. The goaltender can only make so many saves. We’ve got to put the puck in the net. We should be confident in one-goal games, but we just have to bear down a little more, whether it’s one hit or one shot, and find ways to win.’’

(on the play of Nolan and King…)

RICHARDS: “They played really well. They were tenacious on the puck and caused a lot of opportunities. We did everything except the most important thing, which was putting it in the net today. They opened up so much space with their work ethic. If we keep working like that and moving like that, and have a little more chemistry, I think we’re going to have success.’’
