Scouting the Panthers

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the Kings and the Florida Panthers, and follows the Kings’ 2-1 victory at Staples Center on Dec. 1. That was a rough victory for the Kings. They were outshot 42-26, had to successfully kill six Florida power plays and lost both Willie Mitchell (groin) and Mike Richards (concussion) to injury in the first two periods. The Kings have won seven consecutive games against the Panthers, but the last four have been one-goal games. The Panthers have a 3-4-3 record in their last 10 games, but have won their last two home games. The Panthers aren’t generally a high-scoring team — they’re tied for 21st in the league in goals per game — but they do have a top-10 power play. Scott Clemmensen is expected to start in goal for Florida. For the latest on the Panthers, check out the coverage from the Miami Herald and the Sun-Sentinel, followed by tonight’s probable lineups for the Kings and the Panthers…
