Wednesday practice update

It was an optional practice for the Kings today — the Florida Panthers, who played yesterday at Washington, didn’t skate — with 13 skaters and goalie Jonathan Bernier. Kyle Clifford, Davis Drewiske, Colin Fraser, Matt Greene, Trent Hunter, Trevor Lewis, Andrei Loktionov, Alec Martinez, Willie Mitchell, Dustin Penner, Brad Richardson, Slava Voynov and Kevin Westgarth were on the ice along with the assistant coaches. Also, Rob Scuderi was OK today. Before yesterday’s game, Scuderi got hit on the top of the head by a puck during warmups — he, like most of the Kings, has not been wearing a helmet in warmups in recent weeks — and required a couple staples to close the wound.

Also in attendance at practice was former Kings player and coach (and Hockey Hall of Famer) Bob Pulford, who sat with his son-in-law, Dean Lombardi. Pulford also coached Darryl Sutter for four seasons in the 1980s with the Chicago Blackhawks. More notes and quotes to come…
