An important reminder for those back in Southern California… Tonight’s game is on the NBC Sports Network — the channel formerly known as Versus — and will not be televised on Fox Sports West. Doing the call will be Tampa Bay’s regular play-by-play man, Rick Peckham, along with longtime analyst Brian Engblom. Of course, Engblom played parts of three seasons for the Kings in the mid-1980s and served as the Kings’ radio analyst, alongside Nick Nickson, from 1991-95. Of course, you can still hear Nick and Daryl Evans on the radio, on 1150-AM and affiliates.
So it’s a quiet night for Bob Miller an Jim Fox, but they do have a history in the area. Miller and Fox called one of their first games together in the Tampa Bay area during the 1990 preseason (in fact, Bob believes it might have been their first game). The Kings lost to Pittsburgh 5-3 on Sept. 19, 1990, in a neutral-site game at the stadium now known as Tropicana Field (it was the Florida Suncoast Dome then). That was Jim’s first season as a TV analyst.
