Sutter postgame quotes (Feb. 4)

Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…

(on the play falling off after the first period…)
SUTTER: “Not really. I thought we played a pretty solid game. I would have liked one more power play in the third. I thought we maybe had a couple chances to do that, and that was the difference.’’

(on not having confidence in scoring…)
SUTTER: “If you’re getting chances, then it’s not about that, it’s about finishing the job. Most of our scoring opportunities come from — whether it’s because we’re on the road and other teams are matching up against us — most of our scoring chances are coming from our third and fourth lines. So it’s about productivity out of your top players.’’

(on the Hurricanes’ strong third period…)
SUTTER: “It’s not rocket science. We played last night and we got here at 2 in the morning. They were pushing a little bit more because they had more. It had nothing to do with us backing off.’’

(on losing coverage on Skinner on the second goal…)
SUTTER: “I don’t think we lost coverage. I think Rob Scuderi lost a little battle first. It was a puck battle.’’

(on whether Bernier could have stopped the first goal…)
SUTTER: “It was probably a pretty good shot. That’s what it looked like from the bench. I wouldn’t say I was surprised. They have good speed on their wings. I thought we did a good job against them. I can count the number of opportunities they had, and the number we had. Fine line. Tough to win. We’ve played six periods on the road and gave up three goals and didn’t get nothing out of it. That’s a tough one to swallow.’’
