Jim Fox’s `All-Star Wine Tasting’ event

Kings TV analyst Jim Fox will blend two of his passions — hockey and wine — into what should be a fun and interesting afternoon on Sunday, Jan. 29. Jim will host the “Red and White All-Star Wine Tasting’’ event at The Mixing Room, located in the JW Marriott across the street from Staples Center. The event will be held from noon-4 p.m. and will coincide with the NHL All-Star Game, which will be shown on TVs throughout The Mixing Room. Food and (of course) wine will be served.

Jim has a deep knowledge of wine, and his event will be for connoisseurs and novices alike. Jim will start the event with a wine-tasting tutorial, then have a tasting identification contest. Can you guess the grapes? If so, you might win a prize. You might also win a prize by designing your own All Star-themed wine label. What would your Jonathan Quick or Jonathan Toews-themed wine label look like? Bob Miller, Daryl Evans, Pete Demers, Ian Turnbull and Wandamae Lombardi (Dean’s wife, and a wine expert herself) will be on hand — other Kings alumni are expected to attend, and I’m planning on coming by as well — as well as the Ice Crew, and it’s a charity event, with all proceeds benefiting the Kings Care Foundation. Tickets are $100, and are available at www.lakings.com/wine.
