Sunday practice update

Dustin Penner made it through a full practice today, and afterward said his back felt better. Penner said he suffered back spasms yesterday morning while — and I promise I’m not making this up — eating pancakes. Penner kept a good sense of humor about the whole episode but understandably didn’t think the back pain itself was very funny. His status for tomorrow’s game will likely be determined in the morning.

Darryl Sutter talked about the line-combination changes and, not surprisingly, said he’s just trying to skate things up a bit. He said he liked Justin Williams’ recent play, wanted to get Mike Richards back to center and liked the play of the Loktionov line, so that’s why the changes were made.

Post-practice, the ping-pong table returned. Brad Richardson and Justin Williams teamed for a 30-28 win over Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar. That’s right, 58 points in a Kings game… More notes and quotes to come…
