Some notes from last night’s game…
— The Kings got two even-strength goals, two shorthanded goals and one power-play goal and beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 on Thursday night at Honda Center.
— The Kings tied their season high with five goals scored, following a 5-0 victory on Oct. 18 against St. Louis and a 5-2 victory over Minnesota on Saturday. The Kings have a 7-0-0 record this season when they score at least three goals.
— The Kings got shorthanded goals from Simon Gagne and Mike Richards (into an empty net), their first shorthanded goals of the season. It was the first time the Kings had scored two shorthanded goals in a game since Nov. 13, 2005, when Craig Conroy and Alexander Frolov scored in an 8-2 victory over Columbus.
— The Kings improved to 4-2-2 on the road, 8-1-2 when scoring the first goal, 7-0-0 when leading after the second period and 6-3-2 when being outshot by their opponent.
— The Ducks outshot the Kings 38-36, including 14-9 in the third period. The Kings have recorded at least 36 shots on goal in three consecutive games.
— The Kings went 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. The Kings have scored at least one power-play goal in seven consecutive games.
— Jonathan Quick stopped 35 of 38 shots for the win.
— Mike Richards scored two goals, including one shorthanded goal. It was the 24th shorthanded goal of Richards’ career, among his 140 NHL goals. Richards has five goals in his last five games and is tied for second on the team in goals (seven) and points (15). It was his first two-goal game of the season and his third multi-point game of the season.
— Anze Kopitar had one goal (the game-winner) and one assist (on Richards’ shorthanded goal). Kopitar leads the Kings in goals (nine), assists (14) and points (23). It was his ninth multi-point game of the season.
— Simon Gagne had one goal (shorthanded) and one assist (on the power play). Gagne is tied for second on the team with seven goals. It was his fourth multi-point game of the season. It was the 12th shorthanded goal of Gagne’s career, among his 283 NHL goals.
— Slava Voynov had one goal, on the power play, and one assist. Voynov has three goals and two assists in seven games this season, and in his career. It was his second multi-point game of the season. Both of Voynov’s goals this season have come on the power play.
— Andrei Loktionov had one assist, his first point of the season in his second game.
— Justin Williams had one assist, and is second on the team with 12 assists.
— Dustin Brown had one assist, on the power play. Brown has one goal and two assists in his last three games. Four of Brown’s nine assists this season have come on the power play.
— Rob Scuderi had one assist, for his second assist and point of the season. Scuderi has 67 points (including 62 assists) in 474 career NHL games.
— Simon Gagne recorded a team-high five shots on goal. Drew Doughty was credited with a game-high four hits and Willie Mitchell was credited with a game-high five blocked shots.
— Drew Doughty led the Kings in ice time, at 24 minutes, 41 seconds. followed by Willie Mitchell, at 22:20. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time, at 22:13, followed by Simon Gagne, at 18:54.
— The Kings won 38 of 68 faceoffs (56 percent). Mike Richards won 11 of 20 draws (55 percent). Jarret Stoll won 11 of 19 draws (58 percent). Anze Kopitar won 12 of 17 draws (71 percent).
