Some notes from last night’s game…
— The Kings had their most productive period of the season and rode it to a 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night at Staples Center.
— The Kings scored four second-period goals to blow open a 1-0. It was their first four-goal period since Dec. 27, 2010, when they scored four third-period goals in San Jose and beat the Sharks 4-0.
— The Kings tied their season high with five goals (they’ve now done it three times). The Kings had scored two or fewer regulation goals in 13 of their first 16 games. The Kings have a 6-0-0 record this season when they score at least three goals in a game.
— The Kings improved to 4-3-1 at Staples Center, 6-1-2 when scoring the first goal, 2-0-0 when leading after the first period, 5-0-0 when leading after the second period and 2-3-1 when outshooting their opponents.
— Twelve of the Kings’ 18 skates recorded at least one point, and all 18 had at least one shot on goal.
— Terry Murray coached his 1,000th NHL game and improved to 494-377-129 all-time.
— The Kings outshot the Wild 36-26, including 12-3 in the first period.
— The Kings went 1-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. The Kings have scored at least one power-play goal in four consecutive games, and in 11 of 17 games this season.
— Jonathan Quick stopped 24 of 26 shots.
— Simon Gagne had one goal, his sixth of the season, and one assist. It was Gagne’s third multi-point game of the season.
— Colin Fraser had one goal, his first of the season and his first with the Kings, in his second game.
— Alec Martinez had one goal, on the power play, his second of the season. Both of Martinez’s goals this season have come on the power play.
— Dustin Brown had one goal, his fourth of the season.
— Matt Greene had one goal, his first of the season and his eighth career goal in 396 NHL games.
— Justin Williams had two assists, including one on the power play, which gives him 11 assists for the season. It was Williams’ fifth multi-point game of the season. Williams ranks seconds on the team in assists and points (14).
— Ethan Moreau had one assist, his second of the season.
— Jack Johnson had one assist, his fourth of the season.
— Anze Kopitar had one assist, his 13th of the season. Kopitar leads the Kings in goals (eight), assists and points (21) this season.
— Trent Hunter had one assist, his second of the season.
— Trevor Lewis had one assist, for his first point of the season.
— Jarret Stoll had one assist, his fifth of the season.
— Dustin Brown and Jack Johnson each recorded a team-high four shots on goal. Crolin Fraser was credited with a team-high six hits and Matt Greene and Mike Richards were each credited with a team-high two blocked shots.
— Jack Johnson led the Kings in ice time, at 23 minutes, 32 seconds, followed by Drew Doughty, at 22:50. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forward in ice time, at 21:38, followed by Mike Richards, at 18:30.
— The Kings won 30 of 65 faceoffs (46 percent). Mike Richards won 10 of 24 draws (42 percent). Jarret Stoll won 11 of 18 draws (61 percent). Anze Kopitar won 6 of 13 draws (46 percent).
