Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on winning in his 1,000th game as an NHL head coach…)
MURRAY: “It doesn’t feel any different, anything special really. It’s a game that was very important for us to win. I really liked the focus coming into this game tonight. The players came out, right away, with the kind of intensity and attitude of moving your feet, getting pucks going north, recovering pucks. That was a huge first goal that Fraser ends up scoring, on a nice play by Moreau from behind the net. So that’s what I liked out of the milestone, the fact that the team played well and won the game.’’
(on the Kings’ power-play goal…)
MURRAY: “They’re a pretty good penalty kill there. In fact, when you back with (former coach) Jacques Lemaire, they’ve had one of the best special teams in the league. I was a little concerned about our power play. We had that five-minute, and we were kind of messing around with it and time was going off the clock very quickly. We got the end of the period and finally got an opportunity to regroup in the locker room, talk it over, `Here’s what we need to do.’ Finally, then you score on it. To me, that was a critical time in the game. If you’re not pushing the envelope on that one, then bad things can happen. You (can) give them a lot of momentum on a big five-minute kill.’’
