Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…
(on winning in Terry Murray’s 1,000th game…)
“His coaching style suits us very well. He’s not a screamer; he’s not a yeller. When he first got here, we didn’t have much of a system, especially in our D zone. We went to being one of the best defensive teams in the last three years, and that’s a lot about the system he has brought in and really hammered home with us, and guys buying in is a big part of that too. Tonight, we scored some goals. I think that’s the other side that we need to work on and improve. I think the last four periods have been a tell-tale sign of how we need to play. The defense moved the puck a little quicker, getting it up the ice. We got on the forecheck, turning pucks over, the last four periods.’’
(on the power-play goal early in the second period…)
BROWN: “That was probably the turning point in the game, really. We had a five-minute opportunity to kind of put the nail in the coffin. Williams made a good play from low and we found a goal to get up 2-0, and then we go from there.’’
