Here’s the expanded update, from Terry Murray, on some of the pertinent issues in advance of tonight’s game against Colorado…
(on the status of Simon Gagne’s “middle-body injury’’…)
MURRAY: “I don’t know exactly where he’s at (with the injury), other than he won’t play. I got a text from Kinger [trainer Chris Kingsley] this morning. He spoke with him, and it’s improving but he’s not ready to go.’’
(on whether he will stay with the lines he used in the third period last night…)
MURRAY: “I’ll go back to the way we started the game last night. Justin Williams is an important player on our team. He’s one of our more creative players. He’s a point producer, plays well with Kopitar. (Last night) was one of those games where, whenever a couple goals are scored against you, things were not happening. You get a little hesitant, caught in between as a line, so I felt I needed to make a change. We got some results off it last night, but that’s not long-term.’’
(on starting Jonathan Quick tonight, in back-to-back games…)
MURRAY: “His game is really good right now. From the very start, he’s seeing it, he’s giving us an opportunity to win. He made a couple big stops last night — a one-timer from (Shane) Doan, in particular, at the end of the game — so I’m just going to keep him playing right now.’’
