Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts from last night…
(on whether he had an issue with Rinaldo’s hit on Doughty…)
MURRAY: “No.’’
(on Dustin Penner’s status…)
MURRAY: “Yeah, Penner is OK. When he went down there, after the fight, he had a little bit of a contusion, just from falling, but yeah, he’s OK. He came out of that all right.’’
(on ending the road trip with a win…)
MURRAY: “It will be a good flight for us. This is a tough building to win in. To get two points tonight is a great way to finish the road trip off. We’re going to get out of town, get back home and unpack some suitcases.’’
(on the long road trip…)
MURRAY: “I thought the trip went very well. The European part of it was outstanding, in fact, with the accommodations. The National Hockey League had people available to us everywhere we went, if we needed anything. So everything was taken care of. I thought it was very exciting, just playing in Europe. The fans were so into the game. They’re up and chanting and singing the whole game. It was a great experience for all of us.’’
(on Quick’s play…)
MURRAY: “Well, when you’re on the road as long as we’ve been, you know it’s going to be a challenge. Then to top that off, playing in New Jersey, against a team that is trying to get things righted after a tough year last year — and they played very well against us — and then to come into one of the toughest buildings in the NHL, goaltending is going to be called on often and in some big situations, and Quick was outstanding for us here tonight.’’
(on how RIchards handled the return to Philadelphia…)
MURRAY: “I thought he handled things really well. I was real happy for Richards, and I was happy to see the Flyers fans receive him the way they did at the start of the game. That was class. Once the game starts, there’s a little bit of a change, but that’s OK. That’s hockey, that’s sports. I thought he dealt with it really well. I know he was very anxious about this game. At the end of the day, how fitting is that, where he makes the great play on the game-winning goal.’’
(on Jack Johnson’s play…)
MURRAY: “He really stepped up big-time, played a lot of significant minutes, and loves the challenge. I thought he was as strong at the end of the game as he was at the start. I want to say, all five defensemen. We lose Doughty, and that’s a big loss, but all five defensemen who played dug down and took it to the next level, in the third period especially.’’
