One month to go…

Where does the summer go? For those of you who like to plan your sick days well in advance, please note that the on-ice portion of the Kings’ training camp is scheduled to begin one month from today, Sept. 17. That’s a Saturday, but a couple days before that, the Kings will have their annual two-day rookie “tournament” against prospects from the Phoenix Coyotes, tentatively scheduled for Sept. 14-15 in El Segundo.

With just a month to go before the start of camp, I’ll be kicking off a look at how Kings players, coaches and staff are preparing for the start of the season. The first official event is HockeyFest, to be held Sept. 11 at Staples Center, so that’s a natural place to start. The third-annual fan event has another different look this year, as it will be held entirely in the arena and will include on-ice participation by both players and fans, as well as the ever-popular “state of the franchise” Q&A with team management, a kids Q&A with players and the official introduction of the new jerseys. Look for more on that to come, and you can click here for more information on the event, including ticketing, etc.
