Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
MURRAY: “When you come into this building, you know you have to play good. You’ve got to show up and compete real hard. We gave up that first goal, and it’s the goals I don’t like. You’ve got to show up against a real good hockey club, and play well, and we didn’t do they. They came right back, after we made it a 2-1 game, and that’s just the way they approach business. They come right back and score, and after that it was all their game.”

(on what was going wrong early…)
MURRAY: “We weren’t in positions. Whether it was on the checking part of the game, without possession, or if we had possession we were not in the proper lanes. Our centermen were not there, our wingers were not in position, our defensemen were looking up and they’re almost seeing the seat of the pants. There’s no way to get the puck up the ice, unless they get their feet going and get to the red line themselves. It got a little bit better in the second half of the game, but early, my goodness, structurally we were really broken down.”

MURRAY: “Well, the first goal, Greene had no chance on that. That one is 15 feet by him. That came right onto the San Jose forward’s stick, and he just shot the puck. That puck, that should never be there to begin with. That’s a shot that comes from almost the boards, above the top of the circle, and it comes right back to the middle of the ice. Greene was there, but he had no chance for it. It got by him too quick.”
