Kings 1, Canucks 0

The Kings opened the scoring in a delayed-penalty situation, as Dustin Penner recorded his first goal with the Kings. After a scrum in the corner of the Vancouver zone, Penner carried the puck — and Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome, on his back — toward the net. Penner flipped the puck toward Luongo, and it deflected off the goalie and into the net to give the Kings a 1-0 lead 5:28 into the first period. Brad Richardson and Justin Williams picked up assists.
