Matt Greene, with the save

Jonathan Quick or Jonathan Bernier? How about Matt Greene? As captured in a picture — posted on this earlier blog item — Greene jumped in front of the Kings’ net during a particularly hairy scramble last night and helped prevent a Phoenix goal. Greene insisted today that there was no particularly “style” to his play — I suggested he looked a bit like a butterfly goalie — but it was a heads-up moment, one that Terry Murray was pleased with…

MURRAY: “That was a huge save for him. That’s what defensemen are supposed to do, help the goaltenders out. The whole team played really well — both teams, actually — in the defensive part of the game. It was a hard-checking game. There was good tempo, pace, a lot of blocked shots. There was a playoff-like atmosphere with that checking attitude by both teams.”
