Postgame notes (Feb. 28)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings had their four-game home winning streak snapped as they lost to the Detroit Red Wings 7-4 on Monday night at Staples Center.

— The Kings had won their previous four meetings with the Red Wings and, in the previous two meetings this season, they had allowed Detroit a total of only two goals.

— The Kings matched a season-high for most goals allowed, as well as a season-high for worst goal differential in a loss. The Kings also allowed seven goals in a 7-4 loss to Philadelphia on Dec. 30. The Kings have not lost a game by more than three goals this season.

— The Kings went 1-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill, and also allowed a shorthanded goal. The Kings had not allowed multiple power-play goals in a game since Jan. 17, a span of 18 games. The Kings have a 1-9-0 record when they allow more than one power-play goal in a game.

— The Kings outshot the Red Wings 39-27, including 14-5 in the third period. The Kings were coming of a season-high 42 shots on goal Saturday against Colorado.

— The Kings fell to 19-10-1 at home, 27-9-1 when scoring the first goal, 2-9-1 when trailing after the first period and 4-17-1 when trailing after the second period.

— Jonathan Quick was pulled from a game for the second time this season, after he allowed his sixth goal (on 23 shots) just under six minutes into the third period. Jonathan Bernier relieved Quick and stopped 2 of 3 shots.

— Brad Richardson had one goal and one assist, for his second multi-point game of the season. Richardson has one goal and three assists in his last six games.

— Michal Handzus had a power-play goal, his first power-play goal since Nov. 17.

— Dustin Brown had a goal, giving him the team lead with 21 goals.

— Wayne Simmonds had a goal. Simmonds has three goals and one assist in his last three games.

— Anze Kopitar had two assists, including one on the power play, giving him a team-high 42 assists. Kopitar has four goals and eight assists in his last nine games.

— Jarret Stoll had a power-play assist. Stoll has two power-play points in his last two games.

— Alexei Ponikarovsky had one assist. Ponikarovsky had gone 11 consecutive games without recording a point.

— Drew Doughty had one assist. Doughty has two goals and two assists in his last three games.

— Matt Greene had one assist, his seventh of the season.

— Dustin Brown and Jack Johnson each recorded a game-high five shots on goal. Brown was credited with a team-high three hits and Matt Greene was credited with a team-high two blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty played a game-high 23 minutes, 25 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all forwards in ice time at 20:58.

— The Kings won 26 of 58 faceoffs (45 percent). Jarret Stoll won 6 of 20 draws (30 percent).
