Lombardi talks trade: quick hits

Just got done talking with Dean Lombardi in El Segundo. He looked as tired as I’ve ever seen him… I’ll have the full transcript posted ASAP, but in short…

Lombardi was obviously pleased with the deal, referring to it as a chance to “reward” the current Kings by giving them help and improving the roster. Lombardi praised Penner’s strength and net play. He said things had been fluid in the hours leading up to the deadline but that Brad Richards had not been an option since last week. Lombardi said any discussion of Brayden Schenn in trade talks was a “non-starter” and was excited about getting the Justin Williams contract extension done. More on all this to come shortly…
