Some notes from last night’s game…
— The Kings broke their 10-game losing streak in Calgary as they beat the Flames 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday night.
— The Kings’ previous win in Calgary had been on Dec. 21, 2005. In none of the next 10 games did the Kings even record one point in the standings by taking the game to overtime. Never, in franchise history, have the Kings lost 11 consecutive games in the same city.
— The Kings had scored two or fewer goals in their last six games in Calgary, and totaled only seven goals in those six games. The last time the Kings scored three regulation goals in Calgary was Oct. 18, 2007.
— The Kings moved back into the top eight in the Western Conference, in eighth place with 60 points. The Kings had not been in the top eight since their victory over Columbus on Jan. 8.
— For the first time in 41 tries, in franchise history, the Kings swept the two Alberta teams — Edmonton and Calgary — during the same road trip. (Credit for this note goes to Nick Nickson…)
— Three games into their run of 10 consecutive road games, the Kings are 2-0-1. They already have more points (five) in this road stretch than they did during their season-long eight-game homestand last month, when they went 2-6-0.
— The Kings are now 5-0-1 in their last six games. This is the second time this season that the Kings have recorded at least one point in six consecutive games. They went 6-0-0 from Oct. 28-Nov. 13. The longest winless streak of the season is five games.
— The Kings went 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. The Kings, after a 1-for-28 power-play skid, are 3-for-8 on the power play in their last two games. Calgary had allowed only one power-play goal in its previous six games.
— The Kings had allowed two or fewer regulation goals in eight of their previous nine games.
— The Flames outshot the Kings 35-33. The 35 shots on goals was the fourth-highest total against the Kings this season. The Kings actually have a 4-0-0 record when the opponent records 35 or more shots on goal.
— The Kings improved to 12-13-2 on the road, 22-8-0 when scoring the first goal, 13-3-0 when leading after the first period, 17-0-0 when leading after the second period, 12-8-2 in one-goal games, 25-6-0 when scoring at least three goals and 6-1 in shootouts.
— Jonathan Quick stopped 32 of 35 shots in regulation and won his fifth consecutive decision. Quick also improved to 6-0 in shootouts this season.
— Justin Williams had one goal and two assists and scored the winning goal in the seventh round of the shootout. Williams is now tied for the team lead with 19 goals and is second on the Kings with 42 points. It was Williams’ first three-point game of the season and his seventh multi-point game (and first since Jan. 8).
— Dustin Brown scored a power-play goal — and broke a streak of 11 consecutive games without a goal — and had one assist. Brown also recorded his first power-play point in his last 19 games. Brown is third on the Kings with 18 goals this season. It was Brown’s 12th multi-point game of the season.
— Rob Scuderi had one goal. Scuderi now has two goals for the season. Never, in six previous NHL seasons, did Scuderi have more than one goal in a season. With 13 points, Scuderi is now three away from tying his career high.
— Jack Johnson had a power-play assist. Johnson is second on the Kings with 32 assists, and 21 of them have come on the power play. Johnson has three power-play assists in his last two games.
— Ryan Smyth had one assist. Smyth has two goals and three assists in his last six games.
— Andrei Loktionov had one assist. It was Loktionov’s first assist, and second point, since he was recalled from the AHL on Jan. 20.
— Justin Williams recorded a team-high six shots on goal. Matt Greene and Dustin Brown each recorded a team-high three hits and Greene, Jack Johnson and Alec Martinez each recorded a team-high three blocked shots.
— The Kings won 34 of 70 faceoffs (49 percent).
— Drew Doughty played a game-high 28 minutes, 42 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 23:18.
