More plentiful power-play chances?

The Kings’ power-play struggles for long stretches of this season have been well-documented, but part of the issue of late has been the number of chances the Kings have had to score. For instance, in their last three games, the Kings have had a total of only seven power-play chances, as opposed to 12 chances in their previous three games. That can be attributable to a few different things. Are the Kings playing enough of a gritty game in order to draw penalties, skating well and putting themselves in situations in which opponents take penalties? Terry Murray said he didn’t have a problem with that area of the Kings’ game.

MURRAY: “I think so. I think our feet have been moving in the offensive zone. I think we’ve been doing the right stuff with our cycle, with trying to create separation and, even on the attack, driving to put pressure on the defensemen to do something that maybe is going to result in a hook or a hold or pulling someone down. I think we could end up going to the net a lot harder, at the end of the day, but in the other part of the game, I really like our skating. We’re moving in the right direction in that area. We just have to stay with it. At the end of the day, we will get our opportunities.”
